Materials required:

No. 80 and no. 20 thread.  2 shuttles.  Small seed beads

 

Abbreviations:        

SR

split ring T & C tie and cut SCMR self closing mock ring
vlp(½”) very long picot measuring ½” vlp(¼”) very long picot measuring ¼” SLT shoe lace trick (tie a knot!)
+B  add bead to picot before joining Rw reverse work B bead on no. 20 thread
b bead on no. 80 thread [ ] instructions within these brackets refer to the ring on the SCMR

 

Centre row using two shuttles and no. 80 thread on both.  Add 7 beads to Wsh1

R1:       8 – 8 – 8 – 8

SR2:     8 – 8 / 8 – 8

SR3 – SR12:     as SR2  when working R13 move the 7 beads onto the ring round the hand before starting

R13:     4b2b4 – 6b6 – 6b6 – 6b6 – 4b2b4  T & C

 

 

 

 

NB  Please read each SR before starting and remember if there is a b in the SR to place a bead on the core thread before starting. 

Outer row, first half – Two shuttles, Wsh1 with no. 20 thread & 63 beads and Wsh2 with no. 80 thread & 14 beads.  More beads will be needed to add to picots before joining.

Shuttles do not need to be tied together – just start R1 and second half of SR2 leaving long ends.

 

Using Wsh2 with no. 80 thread start

R1:       6 – 6 +B(2nd p of R1 of centre row) 6 – 6

SR2:     8 / 4 BBB b 4 +(3rd p R1 using Wsh2)

SR3:     8 / 4 BBB b 4

SR4:     8 / 4 BBB b 4

R5:       16 +B(SR of centre row R) 8 – 8

SR6:     10 / B 3 vlp(½”) 2 vlp(¼”) 1 Cl  SLT & change to Wsh1

*R7:     4 +B(last R) 4 +B(next SR of centre row) 4 – 4  SLT & change to Wsh2

SR8:     10 / 1 +(2nd vlp of last SR adding 3 B before joining) 2 +(1st vlp of last SR adding 7 B before joining) 3

R9:       8 +B(last p of last R) 8 +B(next p of centre row R) 8 – 8

SR10:   10 / B 3 vlp(½”) 2 vlp(¼”) 1 Cl  SLT & change to Wsh1

Repeat from * 4 times then R7 followed by SR8.  SLT

 

 

End of bookmark - using Wsh1 with no. 20

SCMR1:           8 +B(last R) 8 [R 4 +B 1st p on R13 of centre row 2 – 2 Cl] 8 – 8  Rw  change to Wsh2

Ch:                   B 4 BBB b 4  change to Wsh1

SCMR2:           8 +B(last SCMR) 8 [R 2 +B p on last SCMR 2 + same p as last SCMR on centre row 2 – 2 Cl] 8 – 8  change to Wsh2

SR3:                 6 /B 4 BBB b 4  change to Wsh1

SCMR4:           As SCMR2 but joining to next p on centre row

SCMR6:           As SCMR2 but joining to same p on centre row as SCMR4

SR3:                 10 / 1 +(2nd vlp of last SR adding 3 B before joining) 2 +(1st vlp of last SR adding 7 B before joining) 3

R4:                   8 +B(last R) 8 +B(next SR of centre row) 8 – 8

Repeat from * 5 times making last R as follows

R24:                 8 +B(last R) 8 +B(next SR of centre row) 16

SR25:               8 / B 4 BBB b 4  

SR26:               8 / 4 BBB b 4 +(1st p of R1 of outer row)

R27:                 8 / 4 BBB b 4 +(base of R1 of outer row).  Cut leaving a long end & tie both no. 80 threads together.

Add beads to tail threads
