Jacqui Southworth

The Sun

In the legends of the native people of the Pacific Northwest of Canada, the Sun is depicted as a brave warrior.

Technique - amazingly it is all tatted. Jacqui used the tatted cord method, as featured in 'Lace' and also in a book by Judith Connors - but added her own creative touches such as altering the thickness of the cord to make the trees tapered. Also she stiffened the trees, then cut the picots and tweaked them to give a 3-D spiky effect. Elsewhere long chains were used. The blocks at the end of the rays were worked in rows.
